Chapter 12
Chapter 12 is the final chapter of the book. The hearing was not how Pony thought it was going to be, he barely talked, almost everyone is town was questioned, and the case was closed and pony was in no trouble. However he had home trouble. Him and Darry cant stop fighting, his grades dropped drastically, Pony has no urge like he used to have. One day pony and two others grab lunch at the local store, while pony is outside leaning on the car a couple socs roll up and start to give him a hard time. Pony breaks a bottle and starts acting tough which he never does, pony feels no emotion whatsoever and the socs leave him alone. Then one night Soda runs away while Pony and Darry are fighting, this is because he cant deal with it anymore. Pony chases him down and tackles him and Soda begs for the boys to quit fighting. The boys all agree that they have to stick together as one family. After, pony can get started on his theme, but he picks up "Gone with the Wind" and finds a note from Johnny, then he is inspired.
"We are all we got"
The boys are going through really rough times at the moment, they are fighting and the deaths and hearing has been splitting them apart and they havent realized till now. Now they rememered that they are all they got and they could not imagine life without eachother. So they make peace and agree to put an end to the disputes.

Chapter 11
Chapter 11 is short but sweet. Ponyboy is still in bed resting from his injuries that he got at the rumble. He decides to pick up one of sodas old yearbooks because he was bored. He then sees a boy named robert and he freezes, he realizes that it is Bob, which is the soc that johnny had killed. He thought about what kind of a kid Bob was. Then randy comes to visit, randy was on of the socs, he tells pony that eveyrone involed that night is going to court. Randy also tells him that he is going to tell the truth even if it upsets his father. Pony realizes that he can have his named cleared from this case, but his family can be split up because of it.
"Johny isnt dead" this quote shows how ponyboy is still in shock, he lost two of his closest friends in one day. He is also delerious from his concussion, these two factors added up equals one confused Ponyboy. This is why he says some weird stuff to Randy.

Chapter 10
In this chapter the greasers are hit hard as a group again. After johnny dies Pony cathces a ride form a random man. Pony is bleeding and dizzy from the rumble and ends up messing up the mans car. Dally then goes onto rob a store with a gun that is not loaded. He is then on the run from the fuzz but the cops find him and shoot him under a street light. He did this because he could not live witht the death of Johnny. Then pony sleeps for three days and wakes up to find out that he has had a concussion which is why he has been acting delerious for the past days.
"Johnny was the one person Dally loved"
This shows how tough the greasers are, they show no emotions most of the time. However you cantg judge a book by its cover. Dally who seemed to show no love loved johnny like a son and could not deal with the thought of his life being taken away, so he took his own with him. Everyone has emotions, sometimes you just need to crack the shell.

Chapter 9
This chapter is very deep and changes the whole vibe of the book. They go to visit johnny one more time and more the last time. Johnny passes away with pony at his side, two best friends together till the end. The greasers then go on to the rumble for johnny, 22 socs verse 20 greasers, skin to skin. The greasers then go onto win, it was a tough fight but they did it all for johnny.
"Stay gold Pony, stay Gold."
This was johnny's last words to ponyboy and his last words on earth. This sentence has a deep meaning because its from the book "gone with the wind" which the boys started to read in the church and pony finished for johnny bedside in the hospital. Johnny is trying to tell Pony to never change, but this will change him inside forever.

Chapter 8
In chpater 8 everyone goes back to visit johnny. Johnny asks pony to finish reading him "Gone With the Wind" which is the book they read in the church. Johnny is in critical condition still but Dally is almost fully recovered. After they leave pony finds himself with Cherry and cherry being the spy tells him what the othergorup is doing, the rumble will be fists only. Pony then gets mad and blames Cherry for everything that is going on but then takes it back.
"We couldn’t get along without him. We needed Johnny as much as he needed the gang. And for the same reason."
This is another example of how tight the boys are. When they lose a brother it effects everyone and it is almost like a peice is missing from the group. Johnny provided somethign special for the group, he was the nice one and he almost kept the group intact at certain times of trouble. At the moment the group could really use johnny.

Chapter 7
The boys go to the hospital with sdevere burns. The boys are then met by the media where they are told they are heroes. The media also asks them questions. One reporter asks what ponyboy would rather be doing right now, and pony says "I would like to take a bath." The police are also there, and ask the boys queations of course. Soda entertains the room by messing around with the police. They discover they might be split up, however the brothers are all they got so they will do anything to stay together. They also talk about the rumble that is soon to come between the greasers and socs.
"Greasers will be greasers"
This shows how tight the group is, they are like a knot. The group is like a band of brothers. Allthough they would raher not be greasers, they are still proud to be greasers and would do anything for eachother, just like how Dally tookk care of Pony and Johny even though he could be jailed for it.

Chapter 6
In chapter 6 the boys change the lives for others. It all starts of with Dally at Dairy Queen. Then Johnny tells Dally that that when they get back to town, they are going to turn themselves in. Johnny thinks that he will get off easy because the socs were drunk and the greasers were just defending themselves. Then they ride up to the church only to find out that its on fire. Then they find out that there are young children inside. And despite Dally's comments and anger, the boys bravely go into the church. They save the children and johnny and Ponyboy get burns, however johnny being the last one out got hit by falling ceiling and got injured more. The boys are taken to the hospital where Ponyboy is surprised to see his two brothers there. He is happy to see Soda but not darry until he sees that Dary is bawling, Darry never cries not even at their parents funeral, he realizes that Dary still loves him.
"Darry" I said "im sorry"
This quote helps explain the tension between Ponyboy and Darry. I would describe it as tug of war, or a love hate relationship. They want to hate eachother and act like they hate eachother, but they know deep down inside that no matter what they are brothers. The three brother are all they got because of their parents tragic death and I think that dally is just trying to take the role of the Alpha and he is trying to harden Ponyboy up, but in this chapter he shows a soft loving side.

Blog 4 and 5
In these two chapters life for johnny and Ponyboy change for what could be the rest of their lives. They officially run away and decide to go to the park to get some rest, and then a greasers worst nightmare comes along. A group of drunk socs pull up in their fancy blue mustange and five teens step out sprcifically chery's boyfriend and his friends. They two innocent grasers had no chance and johnny reached into his back pocket and froze, the socs smelled like whisky and english leather. As they surround them they taunt the boys asking if they want to go for a swim hinting at the fountain behind the greasers. Then soc grabs Ponyboy's neck and dunks him in the fountain. Just before Ponyboy feels hs life slipping away the hand releases from his neck and he lays on the ground coughing . Then he gets up and sees a dead soc laying on the ground and johnny sitting there with his switchbalde. Ponyboy instantly panics. They go to see Dally who helps them get out of town to get away from the "fuzz". They arrive at their destination in chapter 4 and wake up in chapter 5. When Ponyboy wakes up he frantically looks for Johnny but sees a note saying he went to get supplies. He wakes up feeling disoriented and he thinks its all a dream, he forces himself to think that it is a dream. He pretends he is back home with darry. Eventually dally comes to meet them andhe reads a letter sent by sodapop and darry. He also says its ok for them to come home. They go and grab Dairy Queen and they talk about how tensions have risen between the socs and the greasers.
"Your in the wrong territory" "You better watch it"
This shows how rough the tension between the two conflicting groups. This tension has split the town into two or into "territories" It also leads us onto finding out more about the hatred between the two. The two groups are willing to do anything inside the territories as long as it makes life more miserable for the other group.

In chapter three the greasers leave with the soc girls, Marcia and CHerry. The girls dont have a ride home so the boys take them home. Ponyboy and Cherry continue to talk and Cherry manages to find stuff out that twobit and Johny never did. He tells Cherry how Darry doesnt like him and wishes he could get rid of Ponyboy, this startles both Johnny and Twobit. The two also talk about Ponyboy's old horse named mickeymouse, and they also go on to talk about the conflict and differences between the socs and the greasers. The two realize how much they have in common. Then a blue mustang pulls up with the Socs boyfriends and a fight almost occurs, however the girls leave with their boyfriends to avoid any conflict. Ponyboy returns home after curfew, so he gets slapped by darry, this causes ponyboy to run away to johnnys house.
"its because we're greasers"
This quote shows how rough being a greaser is. They are constantly looked down on, even by other greasers. They are discriminated a treated poorly because of their social status and economic status.

"He Liked to show he didnt care, wether it was a law or not"
This quote helps draw a picture of the greasers. It shows how they roam the streets looking for trouble. it also shows how ponyboys family acts, they get into lots of trouble without their parents there to watch them. Dally is the brother who gets into the most trouble, he roams the streets looking for alchahol, booze, or stuff to sneak into, this is how the greasers have fun.
Summary
In this chapter we see what the greasers do on their free time. They roam the streets looking for trouble. They sneak into a drive in movie theatre, where they see two socs girls named Cherry and Marcia. Dally goes and gives them trouble. Johnny tells dally to leave the two girls alone, so he does. After that ponyboy and johnny spend the rest of the movie with the two girls. The chapter ends when ponyboy takes Cherry to go get popcorn and talk.

" Sometimes Violence is necessary"
I believe that violence is almost always a way to solve a problem, although it may not be the best way to solve a conflict everytime sometimes its the only route. I think we live in a society where violence is shunned, however our future may depend on violence. One example is how the Unoted states dealt with the Nazis, they wouldnt listen to words so we had to take action. If we hadnt turned to violence the whole jewish race wouldve been wiped out. Another example is the veitnamese war, we had to take action for justice all though it did not work out exactly how our government wished it did, we still tried. The last example is from Enders game, the main charecter had to take to violence so he would no longer be bullied. As you can see violence is necessary in some cases.
Summary
In Chapter one we learn about two different groups, the socs and the greasers. These two groups are butting heads. The geasers are the lower class and the socs are the fancy, educated, and ruch people driving in fancy cars that the greasers built for them. We leanr the names of a few charecters which are nicknames from a gang, like ponyboy and sodapop. Ponyboy is the main charecter, he has two brother and his parents died in an auto wreck which makes things tough at home. One day ponyboy is walking to the movies and he gets jumped by a group of socs, and they try to cut his greasy hair, however he is saved by the greaser gang.
