The Fifth and Final Person
The fifth person Eddie met was named Tala. She was a young girl from the Philippines. Eddie swore he never met her. However tala then said "You burn me. You make me fire" Eddie cringed at what she said and feared what would come next. It turns out Tala was the shadow Eddie saw in the burning hut at the war. Eddie tried to save Tala however the Captain shot eddies leg to save Eddie from the burning with her. The sight of Tala burning in the fire left Eddie with bad dreams after the war. Tala thought Eddie that the girl Eddie saved at the pier lived because of Eddies heroic acts.
The Fourth Person
The fourth person Eddie met in heaven was his wife Marguerite. Marguerite was the one person Eddie loved in his life. While at war Eddie was fighting for her and said "Lord I will give you 16 days if you give me 16 days with her" everyday while he was a prisoner of war. In heaven marguerite was there to teach Eddie a lesson. Her lesson was the gift of love and what love meant.
The Third Person
The third person Eddie meets in heaven is a women named Ruby. She is the owner of Ruby piers, where Eddie worked and grew up. The pier was built by Ruby's husband Emile as a wedding promise. She was selected as Eddies third person because she outlined Eddies way of life as a pier child. The pier made his dad who he was which changed Eddie, without the pier and without Ruby Eddies life would not be what it was.
How War Can Change a Man Part 2
- War makes you not care about life and question what life really means to you, because it changes you.
- During war there is a brotherhood between soldiers, the person standing next to you smoking or cleaning his rifle can soon be the one who saves your life on the battlefield. Soldiers will do anything for fellow soldiers even if it requires giving up their own life to save another's.
- The people at home are also impacted by the war, wether they are now widows, wives, children of soldiers or even friends. It is one big ripple effect and the people have worry hanging over them and a sense of fear that their last time seeing their loved ones is their last time seeing them.
- The people at home are worried and miss their loved ones fighting over seas, they want the best for them and for them to come home untouched and alive.
- During war there seems to be a sense of anger hanging over each soldier. The crew was furious at the enemies for putting them through the months of labor, pain, and starvation so they wanted to burn each hut and house down. Like captain said soldeirs get so angry and tired of the stuff going on in their lives they will burst. When they burst they give up, some soldiers just stop fighting in the middle of battle and stand there until dead. And some just walk away into the woods at night like they have some place to go, like they live two blocks away. They are also filled with rage and anger at the enemies for all the lives they have taken and for what the enemy is putting them through, however I think this type of anger drives a soldier to fight and defeat the enemy because they are motivated to eliminate every enemy in sight to get revenge.

- "why didn't I just die?"-Eddie page 88
- "No one gets left behind, remember?"- Captain page 88
- "Don't get killed, okay?"- Marguerite page 79
- "The cake reads "Good luck! Fight hard!" and "Come home soon" in blue squiggly letters but the "o-o-n" is squeezed together so it reads more like "Come home son"- Eddies family wrote this on Eddie's birthday cake page 77
- "Lets burn it down" - Morton page 76
"Captain"
The second person Eddie met in heaven was his former commander on the battle field. He was known by the name Captain. Eddie and captain were held prisoners of war for months together until Eddie, Captain, and their squad managed to escape by beating up the four guards. Captain thought Eddie how to march, smoke, spit really far, fire a gun. and ride on top of a tank. Eddie thought that going to the army was a call to man hood and Captain was the one to teach Eddie to be a man.
The Blue Man
The blue man was there to show Eddie the point of life. He has blue skin because he drank a prescribed poison that turned his skin blue. He died because Eddie ran across a road to get a ball, the blue man was driving a car and nearly hit Eddie. The blue man died of a heart attack because he was close to hitting Eddie and he was shocked.
Journal 3
"All ending are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time" This quote means that when something ends its the start of something new. For example when someone dies they go to heaven and start a new life with the people who have passed away. Also graduating middle school, you then go to high school and meet new friends and start on a new slate. You should never be sad when something ends, because there are better things down the road.
Eddie Maintenance
Eddie maintenance is a lanky 83 year old man with white hair. He walks with a cane as a result of his war wounds. He works at ruby piers fixing all the rides and making sure they are safe to ride. Every day he goes through his routine, he walks along the pier, then checks the rides, and then he goes to check the fishing hole to see that he has still never caught anything. He walks the pier looking and smiling at the small children and yelling at the teenagers who think they know it all. You can see he is caring because ehe does many things for the small children like taking them on rides and giving them pipe cleaner figures.
Five People I Would Meet in Heaven
1: My Dad's Mother
I would like to meet my grandmother because she died of cancer before I was born. I would ask her what my father was like when he was young and what he looked like. I would tell her how we moved to a new house and I have anew baby brother.
2:Stuart Scott
I would like to meet Stuart Scott because he has motivated so many people with life threatening illnesses. Stuart Scott died from cancer over one year ago. I would ask him how he ignored he had a life threatening illness and I would tell him he was my favorite ESPN broadcaster of all time.
3: Ronald Reagan
I would like to meet Ronald Reagan because he seemed to love our country more than anyone else. I would ask him what it was likening the president and what the stress level was like. I would tell him how i have listened to his speeches on youtube and how inspiring they are like his "we must fight" speech.
4: My mothers mother
I would love to meet my grandmother in heaven because I did not have a big relationship with her. Although she was alive when I was she had alzheimer's for sixteen years and 12 of the years I was alive, so she could not talk or move. I would ask her what it was like coming to the U.S. from Puerto Rico.
5: Pele
I would like to meet Pele because he was probably the most influential soccer player in the world. I would ask him why he decided to play at a small team instead of going to a major team and making five times the money he was making at the cosmos. I would tell him that he was the player who really brought soccer to the U.S.A.
